Vienna Amateurs extend their lead in the table
In the 20th round of the 2nd Vienna Regional League, the top game between the Vienna Amateurs and Ostbahn XI took place on Sunday followingnoon. After the professionals had already achieved a historic victory on Friday, the youngsters followed suit and won 9-0 thanks, among other things, to four-time goalscorer Joel Kitenge. With this victory, the Vienna Amateurs remain in first place in the table with a seven point lead.
Clear conditions
As so often this season, the Vienna Amateurs got into the game really well. They were able to control the opponent from the start and had good chances early on. Consequently, Kitenge took the lead in the 7th minute. After a cross from Huskovic on the left, the young offensive talent hit the near corner (1-0). A little later, the Döblingers increased the score to 2-0. This time it was Antonio Paric following a short corner from the left side. Paric shot from the edge of the penalty area and scored well. The third goal followed in the 31st minute. Paric made his way down the left side and Kitenge just had to push his cross pass over the line (3-0). Just 2 minutes later the opposing goalkeeper had to reach behind him once more. After an exchange pass, Luca Edelhofer dribbled past his opponents and scored with a long-range shot to make it 4-0. In the 37th minute, Haris Zahirovic also scored following a shot into the near corner (5-0). The guests were spared until the half-time whistle and the score remained at this level.
Vienna wins confidently
Vienna made their first substitution during halftime, with Velimirovic coming on for Huskovic. The second half started once more with a bang. 1 minute following the restart it was kitenge once more. After a combination, Vienna came through on the left side and Kitenge used the cross in the center (6:0). Afterwards the game calmed down a bit. Vienna repeatedly had good chances to score. In the 57th minute, Velimirovic, who had previously been substituted, scored from the penalty spot (7-0). Just a few minutes later, Wunsch came into the penalty area and passed it across to Edelhofer, who only had to push in (8:0). After this goal, coach Tuna made another substitution. Lorinson, Mahmutovic and Jankai came on for Wunsch, Valtchev and Nnamdi. After the changes, Vienna slowed down a few times, but always controlled the game. With a quarter of an hour to go, Leitl replaced Titkov in defense. In stoppage time, Kitenge scored the final point and made it 9-0. After a deep pass, Kitenge scored once more.
Trainer Tuna is happy following the important victory: “The game was on our side the whole time because we were just there. The boys’ attitude was great and the result was correspondingly clear. I’m really proud of the boys’ performance.”
