In her first public activity with the Armed Forces since she was sworn in, the president participated this Friday in the ceremony for Army Day and the 198th anniversary of the Battle of Ayacucho, at the headquarters of the Army Headquarters, in San Borja.

During his speech, he reiterated his call for unity, to govern “together” and to “set aside the chapters of confrontation and tell them that they did nothing good to the country. “United we will be able to give stability to a dignified, great and heroic nation,” she said.

“Our nation is firm, strong and secure thanks to its armed forces, the Navy, the Air Force and the Army (…), they give us the guarantee that we live in order, respecting the Constitution, the rule of law, the balance of powers, the one that we recovered following a failed adventure, which must remain in the memory of the country so that it does not happen once more,” exclaimed Boluarte.

Previously, the main speech was given by Army Commander General Walter Córdova, who had shortly before Pedro Castillo announced the coup.

About the commander of the Army, For this reason, his resignation letter is dated Tuesday, December 6. According to the sources, that day the then Defense Minister, Gustavo Bobbio, who had been in office for two days, had a heated discussion with General Córdova in his ministerial office.

Also present at the Army Day ceremony are the heads of the Judiciary, Elvia Barrios, and of Congress, José Williams Zapata, as well as the head of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces, the commanders of the Navy and the Air Force and legislators from different caucuses.

Before participating in this ceremony, Boluarte met with Popular Action congressmen, as part of his round of dialogue with political forces.

Boluarte has not yet announced who will be the head of his Ministerial Cabinet. Hours before, when leaving his home in Surquillo, he announced that he would be sworn in in the next few hours.
