Video – The stock market debrief of March 9: phenomenal rebound session in Paris!

We said it at the beginning of the week: the Stock Exchange at the moment is a very thrilling carousel. Today, they are downright pleasant. While investors want to believe in a de-escalation in Ukraine and in strong announcements at the end of the European summit which opens tomorrow in Versailles, the CAC 40, still as volatile, is completing a phenomenal rebound session: +7.13 % (yes yes you read correctly) towards 6388 points and 8.2 billion euros exchanged

It is a little less exuberant on the other side of the Atlantic but it is also rising and it feels good following four sessions spent in the red for the American markets, the formalization of the US embargo on Russian oil has been well digested and at 5:45 p.m., the Dow jones rose by 1.9% to 33,242 points and the Nasdaq by 2.8% to 13,152 points

Rising values

Inevitably, if we wonder what is going up on the Paris Stock Exchange today and well everything or almost

There are logically the sectors attacked recently, this is of course the case for car stocks with double-digit increases whether for manufacturers or equipment manufacturers such as Renault, Stellantis, Valeo or even Faurecia (+17%)
Banks are also up nicely like Societe Generale +11.5% and BNP Paribas +10%

In 2nd position on the SBF 120 behind Faurecia we find Accor: It is in particular thanks to Berenberg who went from “hold” to “buy” on the hotel group with a price target maintained at 32 euros. Accor has little exposure to Russia and Ukraine and the broker points out that the recovery plan is in line with its expectations

Also note Veolia, which finished at the top of the CAC 40 progression

And then on the SRD, Transgene gains nearly 15%: the biotech will present with its partner BioInvent data on an innovative oncolytic virus at the annual conference of the American Association for Cancer Research.

Falling values

The strong rises of the previous days are experiencing profit taking. But there are very few. They are only five on the SBF 120! Dassault Aviation, Neoen, Thales, Vallourec and CGG. The oil companies that accompany the fall of Brent -7.5% below 120 dollars a barrel this evening
