Many apartments on the Punta del Este boulevard suffered significant damage. In some homes, the windows were even completely broken and the water entered the interior.
The National Institute of Meteorology (Inumet) issued a yellow alert and two orange alerts on Tuesday, divided by the intensity of the winds caused by the approach of a subtropical cyclone. The alerts were updated at 6:30 p.m. and will be updated at midnight. Winds are expected to die down by Wednesday morning.
