“The title of the song has remained as the file name in our first writing session,” he says Nice weather member and co-author of the song Jūlijs Melngailis. Although the lyrics of the song are not about the most decisive moments in the lives of the band members, the song itself was written very quickly and painlessly. “Every creative decision we made while writing this song was easy, the process was a bit improvised and all three of us were on the same page,” continues Yuli. “Rudolph definitely refreshed my perspective on writing music, which also helped us regain a fresh perspective on the rest of the songs we’re working on for our upcoming album.”

In July this year Nice weather came up with a song A Dreamwhich is a precursor to the upcoming album in the spring of 2025. Video for the song as post-processed by band friend Sam Bassett (Sam Bassett)using computer animations generated by artificial intelligence to create a chaotic, dream-like visual effect, has been nominated in the Riga IFF Baltic Music Video competition.
Nice weather is an indie/electronic music project from Riga, whose music is influenced by such artists as Caribou, Jungle, Mount Kimbie, Toro y Moi and others. Nice weather combines sensual beats and analog synthesizer sounds with soft vocals and pulsating guitar riffs, creating a danceable yet intimate atmosphere. Nice Weather: The Genius of Songwriting
Ah, the magic of creativity! It’s like trying to catch a cloud while riding a unicorn. You never quite know where it’ll take you, do you? Well, for the indie/electronic band Nice Weather—a fitting name, really, because it’s just sunny all the time in their world—this process couldn’t have been more breezy. Co-author Jūlijs Melngailis shared a cheeky little insight: the title of their new song is literally the file name more than anything else! Talk about keeping it simple!
What’s interesting is how the song—a delightful concoction they whipped up during their first writing session—wasn’t about any earth-shattering life moments. Instead, it was smooth sailing, like a Sunday drive in a convertible. “Every creative decision we made was easy,” Jūlijs explained. Which, if you ask me, sounds suspiciously like a fairytale! Have we been writing songs in the right way all along? Just three guys sitting around, throwing a chorus around like it’s a frisbee in a park?
But here’s the kicker: Rudolph, one of their talented mates, injected a fresh dose of perspective, and suddenly the rest of their upcoming album looks like it might just be a summer hit. It’s as if he sprinkled fairy dust on their creativity! One can’t help but wonder if he just waved a magic wand and said, “You shall write a banger!” Kudos, Rudolph, you wizard of music!
Now, let’s talk tunes! Their recent track, A Dream, is a delightful peek into what’s coming in spring 2025. Yes, you heard that right: we’re already talking about next spring! Who needs seasons when you’ve got giddy anticipation? Not to be overshadowed, the accompanying music video—post-processed by their pal Sam Bassett—uses AI graphics to create a swirling, chaotic dreamscape. Nominated for the Riga IFF Baltic Music Video competition, it’s like the love child of Salvador Dali and a Saturday night rave!
For those of you who haven’t been living under an avalanche of rocks, Nice Weather is indeed an indie/electronic project hailing from Riga. Take a deep breath, their sound is certainly influenced by the likes of Caribou, Jungle, Mount Kimbie, and Toro y Moi. It’s a heady mix of sensual beats, analog synthesizers, soft vocals, and pulsating guitar riffs. In layman’s terms, it’s what happens when you set a blender on high, toss in some ‘let’s dance’ vibes, and hit whirl!
Let’s not ignore their debut mini-album Pessimism, released back in June 2022. A piece so good it turned heads and snagged two nominations for the coveted Golden Microphone awards. And a collaboration with London’s finest, Eliza Legzdina, really adds a sprinkle of flair!
Plus, they took it a step further with a special short film called A Dog’s Gaze, thanks to the talented director Ieva Aleksa. This isn’t your average home movie—no drop shots or blurry footage here! It even premiered at last year’s Riga IFF. If you ask me, that’s a bloody masterclass in multitasking.
To wrap this up, keep an eye on Nice Weather. They might just be the soundtrack to your next adventure! And if you’re looking for that perfect vibe while sipping your cocktails in the sun, stream their music on platforms galore. Because let’s be honest: who doesn’t want a little sunshine in their headphones?
