The large flare-up in Smyrna, Turkey was brought under partial control. The devastating fire caused by a picnic, destroyed 16 houses and 30 businesses while the damage to the environment is incalculable with the forest having burned in a large part of it.
According to the mayor of Smyrna, Cemil Tugai, 78 people were affected by the fire. In fact, during the evacuations, more than 3,500 people were moved from their homes.
At the same time, firefighters fought hard today to bring fires under control in five different Turkish provinces.
Television footage showed helicopters and firefighting planes dousing the flames as firefighters tried to bring the blaze under control.

And the following days, however, bring Turkey’s state apparatus into a state of alert. The General Directorate of Forestry has warned of a high fire risk in 12 provinces in northern and western Turkey over the next ten days due to high temperatures, low humidity and strong winds.
