Video technology is absent from the Asian group stage

Moaid Al-Shehri, a member of the organizing committee to host the group stage of the AFC Champions League in Saudi Arabia, revealed that the use of video technology “VAR” will only start in the playoffs, similar to last year’s version.

Saudi Arabia hosts Western club matches in 4 cities, namely Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Buraidah.

Al-Shehri told “Into the Goal” program: Video technology will not be used in the group matches during the current edition, and this is the decision of the Asian Football Confederation.

Continuing regarding the precautionary measures for the group stage, he replied: A swab will be taken every 6 days, and there will be no medical bubble as was the case in previous versions.
