Small plane pilot threatens to crash at US department store
Tupelo/Washington. In the US city of Tupelo, Mississippi, a pilot of a small plane threatened to intentionally fly into a department store. The Walmart department store and a nearby store have been evacuated, police said in Tupelo.

Videos on social media showed a light aircraft circling over the city. The police said they were alerted around 5 a.m. (local time) and are in contact with the pilot. City residents have been asked to avoid the affected area.
Authorities suspected the plane was stolen, two sources told the AP news agency. It will be checked whether the pilot is an employee of a local airport. Several authorities are involved in the investigation. They were trying to find a motive for the pilot’s actions, sources said.

Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves wrote on Twitter that police and emergency response teams are closely monitoring the “dangerous situation.”
