An Indian woman told the authorities that she left her newborn baby in a bucket in the bathroom of her home, so the police rushed to the scene to try to save the infant.
In videos circulating on social media, police officers are seen running with a bucket to rescue the infant, who was wrapped in a cloth.
The woman, after giving birth to her baby at home, arrived at the hospital bleeding and reported the newborn to the authorities, which she had left in a bucket in her bathroom.
The police were informed by the hospital authorities and they rushed to the woman’s home in Alappuzha district of Kerala state.
According to the police, the woman arrived at the hospital in Chenganoor with severe bleeding after giving birth at home.
Police found the baby, who weighs only 1.3 kg, in a bucket and took him to a private hospital for treatment.
The police said in a statement that a case had been registered against the woman.
