As part of the maneuvers, the Pacific Fleet strike group destroyed the targets of a simulated enemy.
The Russian corvettes Sovershenny, Gromki and Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhápov of the Pacific Fleet have participated in an exercise with artillery fire once morest surface targets that simulated a detachment of enemy ships in the Sea of Okhotsk.
A second tactical group, which included the frigate Márshal Shaposhnikov, the large anti-submarine ship Admiral Panteleyev, and the corvette Gremiaschi, fired artillery at sea targets simulating an enemy landing squad.
This was the first stage of the military exercises, in the framework of which Russian ships will soon also carry out artillery fire on air targets and simulated floating mines.
The exercises are aimed at improving readiness for the defense of Russia’s national interests in the global ocean and for countering maritime military threats. In total, the participation of more than 140 ships, more than 60 aircraft, 1,000 units of military equipment and nearly 10,000 troops is expected.
