The Australian RED just launched the fifth generation of its microphone flagshipo NT1.
The brand’s acclaimed studio condenser microphone has evolved by leaps and bounds since its original introduction in 1991, but now it’s brought with it two revolutionary additions.
First, we have the output Dual Connect, which RØDE is patenting and combines a conventional XLR connector with a USB-C port. Afterwards, this is the first studio condenser microphone to record in 32-bit floating — that is, in this mode it does not burst the audio for nothing, it is “unclippable”.
The NT1 (5th generation) features a gold-plated large-diaphragm (1-inch) HF6 capsule, has a super-low noise level of just 4dBA, can do analog-to-digital conversion at up to 192kHz, has built-in APHEX processing, and more.
The microphone is now available for purchase internationally, via US$260, in black or silver. It already includes the SM6 (shock mount + pop filter) and XLR/USB-C cables, as well as a ten-year warranty.
