60 firefighters were mobilized to fight the flames and assess the risk of the building collapsing.
The emergency services were called in the middle of the night from Saturday to Sunday to intervene on a violent fire which ravaged the restaurant Le Mess, in Perpignan, reports The Independent.
The fire reportedly broke out in the attic and then spread to the first floor, according to our colleagues, who indicate that it spread throughout the entire building in less than two hours.
No victims are apparently to be deplored since the restaurant was closed. The head of the Mess, Julien Hermida, told The Independent that a new formula was to be inaugurated on Monday August 29 following work.
Evacuations of surrounding buildings were carried out as a precaution.
