Video of the beheading of a Ukrainian prisoner of war.. Zelensky condemns “monsters” and Russia is skeptical

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday condemned what he described as Russian “monsters” following a video was posted on social media showing the beheading of a man believed to be a Ukrainian prisoner of war, while calling on the Kremlin to “verify the authenticity” of the recording.

Post the video recording on Instagram. It shows, according to Kiev, a Russian soldier beheading a Ukrainian prisoner with a knife.

“How easily these people are killed,” Zelensky said in a video clip posted on his accounts. “The whole world should see this video of the execution of a Ukrainian prisoner of war,” the Ukrainian president added.

“This video shows Russia for what it really is,” he stressed.

But the Kremlin responded by calling for verification of the “authenticity” of the video.

“These are, of course, terrible pictures,” Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

“In the fake world we live in, we have to make sure that this video is authentic,” he added.
