Video of Man Kicking Man at Manchester Airport, Police Officer Suspended

Manchester Kicking a man in the face during an arrest at the airport video A police officer has been removed from operational duty following the revelation.

Assistant Chief Constable Waseem Chaudhry of Greater Manchester Police described the video footage shared on social media as ‘shocking’ and said: ‘People are rightly very concerned about this.’

A cellphone video released Tuesday shows a police officer armed with a Taser kicking a suspect on the floor in the face and then placing his shoe on his head.

He then kneels on the suspect’s back while a woman is seen in the video yelling for the police to stop.

Then the same officer points to another man, who has his hands behind his head. It appears that the officer struck the man with a taser on the back of his neck while escorting him to the terminal floor.

Assistant Chief Constable Waseem Chaudhry said on Wednesday night: ‘One male officer has been removed from operational duties and we are voluntarily passing the police response to the Office of Police Conduct.’

“During our response, three officers were attacked,” he added.

‘One female officer suffered a broken nose and other officers fell to the ground with injuries that required hospital treatment.’

Home Office minister Dame Diana Johnson said in her post on X: ‘I am aware of the disturbing footage of an incident at Manchester Airport this afternoon and understand the public’s concern.’

He added: ‘I have asked Greater Manchester Police for a full update.’

Greater Manchester Police acknowledged concerns about the ‘behaviour seen in the video’, saying officers armed with firearms were responding to reports of an altercation between members of the public at the airport’s Terminal Two.

In a statement, police said: ‘While attempting to arrest one of the suspects in the first altercation, three officers were assaulted and punched to the ground. A female officer suffered a broken nose and all three were taken to hospital for treatment.’

The statement added: ‘The officers on duty were armed with firearms and there was a clear risk of disarmament during this attack.

‘Four people were arrested at the scene for assaulting emergency service personnel.’

According to a statement from Greater Manchester Police: ‘We recognize the behavioral concerns in the video and our Professional Standards Directorate is reviewing it.’
