Twitter has moved to a new stage in creating a tool that allows its users to correct their tweets following they are published, which is to test the “Edit Tweet” feature in practice.
Since the launch of the network, Twitter users have been demanding the development of a tool of this kind to correct the tweets they write and publish in a hurry or under the influence of emotion, if they contain errors or unwanted phrases.
And Elon Musk, who is currently engaged in a legal battle with Twitter over its acquisition, has repeatedly expressed his support for this demand.
The group eventually responded to this demand and announced last April that it was working on the development of this feature.
It was reported Thursday in statement That this tool is currently undergoing testing by its technical teams and that it will be available to subscribers “in the coming weeks” within the framework of the paid service package “Twitter Blue”.
This bundle is currently only available in the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
“As with any new feature, we are voluntarily testing the edit Tweet feature on a limited audience to help us identify and fix any issues before (this tool) is made public,” Twitter said in a statement.
She explained that the test enables her to “quickly understand the way the new feature is used and its impact on how tweets are read and written”.
The new feature, according to its current design, allows tweets to be edited multiple times within 30 minutes of publishing, and the edited tweets will show symbols clearly indicating that modifications were made to the original post. Users will be able to view previous versions of it.
Twitter noted that this capability would “protect the integrity of the conversation” and “allow everyone to see what was said.”
