North Korea has apparently tested a ballistic missile for the second time in a week. As the South Korean Ministry of Defense announced, the start was determined on Tuesday. Both Japan and South Korea condemned the move and called it regrettable. Against the background of the faltering peace talks between North Korea and South Korea, the North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un announced in his New Year’s speech that he would continue to arm the country. North Korea has indicated that it is ready to talk, but only on the condition that the US and its allies withdraw sanctions and cease military maneuvers. North Korea is banned from testing missiles and nuclear weapons due to a UN Security Council resolution. Since the country violates this once more and once more, the Security Council has imposed sanctions.
