The Director of the National Land Agency -ANT-, Gerardo Vega, denied that the government of President Gustavo Petro is promoting an article to generate “express expropriation.”
The controversy arose from the announcement of the possible inclusion of an article in the National Development Plan that would promote this expropriation in less than 20 days.
The proposal, which various opposition sectors establish as a ‘mico’, was denied by the director of the ANT, who at a press conference indicated that “no one is going to expropriate, it is not true, it is false.”
The official explained that “what we are going to do is buy land, to buy land to give to the peasants who do not have it,” he said.
Finally, Gerardo Vega indicated that the proposed articles also intend to “correct what is in the norm to be able to do it faster (buy land).”
The government of President Gustavo Petro insists on the purchase of land, some 419,000 hectares in Antioquia alone, and for this, negotiations are even being carried out with the cattle union to access the land.
