The legal dispute between American actress Amber Heard and her ex-husband, American star Johnny Depp, ended with a ruling in favor of the latter, with compensation of $15 million.
What was also remarkable was that Amber Heard ranked first in “Tranding” in Lebanon among the topics raised on Twitter.
The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star sued Heard for publishing an article in the Washington Post in 2018 that described herself as a “public figure who is a model of domestic violence.”
Although Heard did not mention Johnny Depp’s name in that article, he considered that the article tarnished his reputation and undermined his career, and demanded compensation of $ 50 million.
A US grand jury found Heard guilty of defaming Depp by making allegations that he sexually assaulted her and subjected her to domestic violence.
The seven members of the body reached a decision, in Fairfax court, near Washington, following deliberations that took regarding 13 hours, which began on Friday and completed as of Tuesday.
After the final ruling was passed in his favour, Deeb said the verdict in the defamation case “brought life back” to him.
The couple met in 2011 while filming “The Ram Diary” and married in February 2015. The divorce took place regarding two years later.
