Footage from the West Bank has sparked controversy. A video taken during an Israeli military raid, showing a soldier pushing an apparently dead man off a rooftop with his foot, is “under review,” the Israeli army said Friday, September 20.
AFPTV footage of the operation carried out the day before in Qabatiyah, in the north of the Palestinian territory occupied by Israel since 1967, shows a soldier pushing the body with his foot to roll it to the edge of the roof of a building before throwing it into the void.

Asked about the footage, the Israeli military said: “This is a serious incident that does not correspond to the values of the Israeli army and what is expected of soldiers.”
Immediate reaction from Washington
A White House spokesman called the images “deeply concerning.” “If the images are authenticated, this would clearly be abhorrent behavior and a flagrant violation by professional military personnel,” said John Kirby, a spokesman for the National Security Council.
