A historic race. On the difficult course of the marathon of the Paris 2024 Games, the Dutch Sifan Hassan won Olympic gold, Sunday August 11, on the Esplanade des Invalides. In the sprint, the versatile champion, already triple medalist in Tokyo in the 1,500 m, 5,000 m and 10,000 m, beat the Ethiopian Tigist Assefa, world record holder (2 hours 11 minutes and 53 seconds), while the Kenyan Hellen Obiri, winner of the Boston marathon in April, completed the podium.

Already adorned with bronze in the 5,000 m and the 10,000 m during these Games in the French capital, Sifan Hassan triumphed in one of the main events of the Olympic Games, winning her sixth Olympic medal, the third in this edition. A fortnight that ended in apotheosis for the athlete, who even improved the Olympic record, by completing the 42.195 km in 2 hours 22 minutes and 55 seconds.
