He’s the star of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the tech show in Las Vegas. Presented to the public for the first time, Ameca is the world’s most realistic humanoid robot. This robot was designed to interact with humans. It is able to reproduce the expressions of the human face thanks to 17 individual motors and to make some fairly natural basic movements. Its realism amazes visitors, who stop to ask questions.
Only his gray and plastic skin of a robot reminds us that this is not a human, but a machine with artificial intelligence. The AI can hold a complex discussion with the interlocutor and interact with their hands. The robot is capable of making a little more than fifty movements. And if asked, he willingly shows the “exercise routine” that he is capable of.
It took the British company Engineered Arts four years to design Ameca. According to them, this type of robot might coexist with humans within ten or twenty years.
