This article will be updated if more games taking place in Quebec are released or discovered.

Sang-Froid : Tales of Werewolves

Sang-Froid is a strategy and action game that takes place in 19th century Quebec and uses Quebec and Aboriginal folklore of the time with werewolves, Satan and other evil creatures. The story is written by best-selling author Bryan Perro. An interesting aspect of the game is its two-phase gameplay; we prepare the village during the day by placing defenses, then in the evening is an action phase where we take control of a woodcutter to fight. Sang-Froid was released in 2013 by Artifice Studio, whose co-creator is currently working on TimeMelters at Autoexec Games.

Cold One: Tales of Werewolves is available on Steam.

Kona

Kona is an adventure and puzzle game set in northern Quebec in the 1970s. You play as a private detective investigating a murder. Quickly, we realize that the situation is more complex and that supernatural elements arise… The French version of the game benefits from the narration of none other than Quebec actor Guy Nadon!

Kona is available on Steam, PlayStation, PS VR, Xbox, Stadia and Nintendo Switch.

The Whisperer

The Whisperer is a prologue to the development game The Whispering Valley, which is currently in a crowdfunding campaign. It’s a horror adventure game set in a trading post in 1813. I had the pleasure of speaking with its creator, Olivier Leclair, regarding the concept of a national video game.

The Whisperer is available on Steam.

Anamorphine

Although the game is not explicit regarding where it takes place, Anamorphine is a creation of a Montreal studio, and one can easily recognize the Montreal architecture in certain sequences of the game. It is a surreal narrative game that takes us into the psyche of a photographer suffering from post-traumatic syndrome. You can read my review here.

Anamorphine is available on Steam.

Assassin’s Creed: Rogue (Sequence in Percé)

In the game Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, a sequence of the game takes place in Percé in Gaspésie and you can even see the famous pierced rock there. (Also note in Assassin’s Creed 4 : Black FlagAbstergo’s offices at present are located in Montreal).

The game is available on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.

Mon Bazou

From Quebec developer Santa Goat, Mon Bazou is a simulation game where you repair old vehicles somewhere in the Quebec countryside… and apparently you can make maple syrup too, among other things!

Mon Bazou is available on Steam.
