A UX designer is interested in consumer profiles and their way of consuming – The UI designer takes care of the look of the user interface
UX Designer
UX and UI design are two different sides of the same coin and both professions have to do with the consumer experience of a web page, an application or even a video game.
Map an experience
UX is User Experience. The UX designer focuses on how something works and how people interact with it. A UX designer creates paths that flow logically from step to step to make it easier for the user to navigate. A hypermarket, for example, can also call on UX designers to create circulations among the shelves that will encourage purchases. You arrive with a shopping list and a budget, and when you go to checkout, you didn’t respect anything because we were able to get you where you wanted, but also where you didn’t have it. foreseen. This is the customer journey and it is fundamental. Because conversely, if you can’t find anything easily, you won’t come back to this supermarket.
This is particularly true on a website that we abandon following a few seconds if it seems too complex or too cluttered.
In video games, the UX designer works on interfaces, in particular with the economic designer, whose job is to cause in-game transactions. But it can go beyond just when the player is playing.

A sociologist’s appetite
UX designers work with different users to develop a clear understanding of their needs, define interaction patterns, design wireframes (mockups), build prototypes, and work well on the user experience. Additionally, they conduct user testing and review metrics and focus group feedback to make necessary adjustments for product improvement. A UX designer has the soul of a sociologist who is interested in consumer profiles and their way of… consuming. He is a very attentive person to the deaf movements of society. Both strong and weak signals.
In order to collaborate with all the other artists in the production pipeline, a UX designer knows the main software and especially the development engines. It also happens that he intervenes to optimize the interfaces of production software developed in-house and thus improve their efficiency.

UI designer
The UI is the art of creating an attractive and convincing graphical interface, which gives its graphic relief to the work of the UX. This is the upper layer, the one with which the user will be in direct contact. It’s the look! It is the user interface, the graphic design of any application. It consists of the buttons users click, the text they read, images, sliders, text input fields, and everything the user interacts with. This includes screen layout, transitions, interface animations, and every micro-interaction.

The User Experience Stylist
The UI designer will create, in close collaboration with the UX designer, a style guide, a library of signs to which he or his team can refer to ensure the consistency of his work. He must also be very aware of fashions and graphic trends. He is brought, like the UX designer, to collaborate with big data analysts, who will be able to unseal what pleases, works, displeases or does not work with users.

Interview by Elio Cazelle
Is a UX designer at Tindalos.
How would you explain your job? Concretely, what is it when we talk regarding user experience (UX)?
I am a UX/UI designer (User Experience and User Interface designer) in video games. This means that I design any interface present in a game. Concretely, I work on menus, buttons, word processing, icons, etc. Often, when explaining what I do, I say that the user interface is the connection between the game and the player. UX design is an approach that puts the user, his needs, his emotions and his weaknesses at the center of product creation.
Where does UX begin and where does it end, whether in a game, on a website… or in a physical store?
UX is omnipresent in my work. When creating an interface, the beginning of the process is 100% UX. But, followingwards, when the UI comes into play to add the cosmetic aspect, the UX is always present.
Who are your interlocutors in the creative process? What place does UI design occupy?
The UI/UX work a lot upstream with the game designers, because that’s where the features to be designed come from. And downstream with the GUI programmers, who implement what has been designed in the graphics engine.
Between changes in consumption patterns and the possibilities offered by technology, how can we update ourselves to offer an optimal experience to users? What is the role of mastering technologies in your work?
Indeed, technologies, software and creative tools are developing at breakneck speed. In this environment, you have to be able to constantly update yourself by doing what is called “day before“Technological and graphic. But that’s also what’s beautiful regarding this job: you always have more to learn.
For a UX designer, is the metaverse hell or heaven? Shouldn’t you be its kingpin?
I think that the metaverse can become a hell or a paradise depending on its UX design!
Is teleworking possible for the profession of UX/UI designer?
Yes, I myself have been working remotely for almost two years. This profession lends itself well to this.
