Bad news for video game fans in the regions of La Louvière and Charleroi. The Video Game Center has just announced on social networks the permanent closure of its stores, in particular La Louvière which was near the Cora, after the closure of that of rue Kéramis (still in La Louvière) and that of Charleroi near Astrid Park. A company born more than two decades ago. “It is with immense sadness that we announce the permanent closure of our three stores…”, announced the company on social networks. “Thank you to our loyal customers who have been present for more than 20 years for visiting and supporting our stores.”
For several years, the three main competitors active in the world of video games, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo, have been waging a merciless war to be on top. One of their main strengths, the dematerialization of video games which can no longer be purchased in stores, on physical media but online. This could be one of the causes that forces the brand to close its doors permanently. However, a priori, it is not about that. “The causes are neither due to the lack of attendance, nor due to the resurgence of dematerialized offers and even less to the sellers who were dedicated and passionate about their work. A problem with the supplier?
It could be a supplier problem but this information could not be verified. Last May, the Facebook page of Video Game Center thus announced a big problem in terms of pre-orders made in store. “For reasons beyond our control, we can no longer follow any release of video games, consoles, goodies etc… Which means that unfortunately, all your pre-orders are canceled”, published the sign last May by announcing in same time the closing of the carolo store.
Since this announcement, the managers have received a lot of support on social networks. “Thank you for having accompanied many players, many enthusiasts during these years.
