Former UFC strawweight champion Carla Esparza suffered an impressive cut over one eye in a grappling match Thursday night during the Fury Pro Grappling 3 event.
The American hit her head against that of her opponent, Danielle Kelly, when she tried to hit her by throwing her against the ground. The maneuver caused an immediate hemorrhage in the area of his eyebrow, and even Kelly’s face was stained with blood.

The referee paused the contest and then canceled it because the doctors determined that the injury was too great. Following the accidental headbutt, Esparza shared an image of the open cut on his social media and said it would require “a couple of stitches.”
