It is a video that is available to HEL.AS and will be attached to the case file that will be forwarded to the justice system for the case, which has already reached great proportions inside and outside of Greece.
The disputed frames, as you will watch in the video, show the family of the 49-year-old Greek-Canadian leaving the bar after having fun. In the lead is one of the sons of the family with his mother, the 41-year-old Icelandic wife of the 49-year-old patient. The woman looks cheerful as she walks towards the exit of the kefati shop, raises her arms and sways.
A few meters behind follows the 49-year-old with the second son of the family. The video clearly shows the moment in which a patron (one of the accused) accidentally touches the Greek-Canadian with his cigarette in his hand, who turns his head towards the group, while at the same time rubbing his hand over the spot touch the cigarette butt.
The young man who accidentally burns the 49-year-old holds the cigarette behind his back as he faces his company and they chat carelessly. As the Greek-Canadian passes, the young man reportedly leans a little to talk to a friendly person, causing his cigarette to touch the man who was walking right behind him to go out.
The video has no sound so that there is an image of the dialogues, but it seems that the Kritikos with the cigarette is nodding to the 49-year-old in order to tell him that he had not seen him. The Greek-Canadian makes a move to leave, but eventually turns back and heads towards him. They seem to exchange some small talk about the cigarette incident, while the young man’s group continues to chat as normal, unaware of what has happened.
At that moment, a third young man enters the shot (he was not sitting in the group), who enters between the two who are talking and essentially asks the 49-year-old to leave and end any misunderstanding. Then other people from both sides start gathering around them. They are clearly seen exchanging words, gesticulating and shoving on both sides (the 41-year-old Icelander also gets in the way) and the whole commotion now shifts outside the bar, with the unfortunately familiar results.
However, it is really surprising, at least based on the content of this particular video, how an unfortunate event that started without any intention, took such a bad turn.
