TikTok definitely wants to boost long videos. The platform intends to retain its creators by offering them a new way to monetize their content. With “Series”, TikTok offers them to create a paywall to access some of their videos. Creators will be able to post a collection of 80 videos, each with a maximum length of 20 minutes. Long videos that they can charge between 1 and 190 dollars. The creators will choose their prices themselves.
For its launch, TikTok will only deduct processing and usage fees for app stores, roughly a 30% share, it said. The Verge. The Chinese social network has not yet indicated how the revenues will be shared between the creators and the platform therefollowing.
Who says paid content, does not necessarily say sexually explicit content. The creators will still have to continue to respect the rules of use of the platform. Access to these “Series” of content may be purchased either via direct links present in the video, or directly on the user’s profile.
