Corona ends Aida cruise
These passengers probably imagined their trip a little differently: spectacular New Year’s Eve fireworks on Madeira, island hopping on the Canary Islands. Instead, the “Aida Nova” waited for days in the port of Lisbon. Dozens of crew members had tested positive for the corona virus. According to the company, they were taken to hotels in Lisbon and are in isolation there with only mild symptoms. Nevertheless, the cruise will be canceled, the captain of the “Aida Nova” informed the passengers on Sunday. The employees of the German shipping company have already started to organize the journey home from Lisbon for the almost 3,000 guests on board. In the meantime, people might explore the Portuguese capital and surrounding areas on shore excursions.
