San Diego Zoo authorities have fitted a three-month-old giraffe with a leg brace to correct a limb deformity.
The baby giraffe Msetoni was fitted with a front leg orthosis to correct this deformity that made it difficult for her to stand and walk.
The pillar was made of carbon graphite and decorated with the same color and pattern as the giraffe’s body to allow it to blend in with its surroundings.
Without this treatment, Msetoni’s chances of survival would be extremely poor, the San Diego Wildlife Alliance said in a statement.
A baby giraffe was born with an unusual disorder that caused her front limb to bend the wrong way.
But now, she can run along like other giraffes following zoo staff reached out to experts who had created countless braces for humans, but never for animals. https://t.co/qfIEM1T5PJ pic.twitter.com/DWI7WFwizk
