A blind Indonesian teenager caught the eye on “America’s Got Talent” following she sang two songs, with the audience and judges alike impressed by her dazzling performance.
The 17-year-old Putri Aryani stunned the jury with the audition, following she first sang one of her own songs, before the famous presenter and one of the show’s judges, Simon Cowell, asked her to sing another one.
Ariani, the veiled Muslim girl, chose the song of the famous singer Elton John, “Sorry, it seems like the hardest word,” and her performance excited the audience, some of whom were touched and cried following it ended.
This performance prompted Cowell to press the “golden buzzer” under which competitors nominate to the live shows, amid a standing ovation from the audience, who greatly applauded the young talent.
Coyle described the Indonesian girl’s voice as “distinguished”, while the program’s other judge, Howie Mandil, said, “Many people do not believe in angels, and I think one of them just landed on our stage … you are a star.”
NBC, which shows episodes of the show, says Iryani told the judges before her dazzling performance that her dream is to start her own singing career and hopes to one day become a Grammy-winning singer like Whitney Houston.
