The Chilean soccer player Arturo Vidal and a group of his teammates from the Colo-Colo team were denounced this Monday, under the accusation of drugging a woman and allegedly committing a crime of a sexual nature, during a party at a nightclub, Carabineros de Chile reported. .
There are still no arrests and the names of all those involved are unknown, but Carabineros Colonel Gerardo Aravena confirmed that Vidal, 37, was the only one taken to the police station and later released.
“He was transferred to the police station within the context of the first proceedings and investigations under the figure of an investigative identity control and then he was able to continue with his activities,” Aravena told local media.
The events occurred in the early hours of this Monday in a bar in the Vitacura commune, in the northeast of Santiago, where the soccer players were celebrating the victory against Deportes Iquique – which leaves them one step away from being champions of the Chilean league – and the birthday of the players Lucas Cepeda, 22, and Vicente Pizarro, 21.
Without further details
“Yes, it is a group of athletes, I cannot give you more background because there are procedures that are being carried out at this minute and it could hinder the development of the investigation. We have not had any arrests during the day. The complaint is for a crime with a sexual connotation,” Aravena added.
The complaint was made in the nightclub where Carabineros carried out the registration of all those identified, who will be summoned to testify, but in the case of Vidal “according to the background, it was determined to carry out an identity check at the police station,” he added.
The Police colonel notified that the woman, who is of legal age, was not the one who made the accusation, but rather that “there is a person who reports on behalf of the victim”, who according to local press versions would be the sister.
The Prosecutor’s Office hopes that the woman will go to the Legal Medical Service to carry out the relevant examinations. “This is just in the investigation stage, specialized personnel must establish various procedures,” said Aravena.
another case
The prosecutor in charge of the case is Francisco Lanas, who is also in charge of the investigation of former soccer player Jorge Valdivia, who has been detained for two weeks after being reported for rape.
The Colo-Colo club has not yet commented on this situation, in a key week for the team that next Sunday will define the title on the last date of the Chilean championship, which it disputes with its archrival Universidad de Chile, whom it leads with two points on the table.

This comes during what was supposed to be a celebratory occasion, following their victory against Deportes Iquique and a birthday party for two of the players.
**Interviewer:** As we understand, Vidal was taken in by the police but later released. What does that indicate about his involvement?
**Juan Martinez:** Yes, that’s correct. Colonel Gerardo Aravena mentioned that Vidal was taken in for investigative identity control, which suggests that he was involved in the early stages of the investigation but has not yet been charged with any crime. It’s important to note that while he was taken in for questioning, he was not arrested. This could imply that more information is needed before any legal action is taken.
