Victories for Spirou Charleroi with 45 points for Jackson, Mechelen and Ostend in Elite Gold

The first day of the second phase of the BNXT League basketball championship, between Belgian and Dutch clubs, continued on Saturday and saw only Belgian victories for Spirou Charleroi, Mechelen and Ostend in Elite Gold.

Spirou Charleroi has indeed won against Landstede Hammers. 95-79 with 45 points for Jhivvan Jackson (6/9 at 2pts and 10/13 at 3pts).

Ostend reached 100 points against Aris Leeuwarden with a 100-80 victory. Nikova Jovanovic finished with 24 units and 7 rebounds.

Kangoeroes Mechelen narrowly emerged against ZZ Leiden 80-79 with 5 players over 10 including Jordan Harris (14).

In Elite Silver, Mons-Hainaut got rid of Den Helder 88 to 64 with 26 points to the credit of Alexandre Gavrilovic, author of a clear shot (10/10). Leuven dismissed Yoast United and Aalst imposed their views on Academie Limburg 102-67 including 19 points for Joshua Price.

A six out of six for the Belgians on Saturday against Dutch clubs.

This second phase of the BNXT League, the cross-border, is divided into two groups with the five best Belgian and Dutch clubs at the end of the classic phase in Elite Gold, the others in Elite Silver. Each club plays back and forth against clubs from the other country. Points from the first round between clubs from the same country are retained.

The first two from each Elite Gold country are directly qualified for the playoffs of their country, the other three for the quarter-finals where the first from each Elite Silver country joins them.

Next weekend will make way for the Belgian Cup on Sunday (3:30 p.m.) at Forest National between Ostend and Antwerp followed by the women’s final (6:00 p.m.) between Kangoeroes Mechelen and Castors Braine.
