Victoria Beckham’s fashion show was disrupted by Peta protesters

The fall/winter 2024 collection of the fashion designer turned former Spice Girls singer was presented at the Paris show.

Some activists from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) disrupted the presentation of Victoria Beckham’s autumn/winter 2024 collection. The protesters wore T-shirts with the words “Animals are not textiles” and Viva vegan leather that is Long live vegan leather! They waved signs with the words, thus protesting against the use of animal skins in the fashion industry.

Although Beckham’s brand does not use fur or exotic skins, some pieces are made using animal skins. Mimi Bekhechi, President of Peta Europe, said:

No article of clothing or accessory is worth the violent slaughter and skinning of a sensitive and intelligent animal. We urge Victoria Beckham to turn to the ethical and eco-friendly innovations available today, such as high-end leathers made from apples, grapes, pineapples, mushrooms and other plants.

The animal rights organization Peta is known for its groundbreaking demonstrations, which regularly take place at global fashion events, including fashion weeks in New York, London and Milan.

Victoria Beckham appeared on the runway with crutches at the finale of the show, but her leg injury was not the result of the activists’ action. David Beckham revealed on Instagram last month that Victoria’s leg was injured in a minor gym accident.
