“Since then, I have suffered, I have taken steps to have my damage recognized but the legal time is very long. My life has been completely turned upside down, in all its aspects.”
“Excruciating pain”
The young woman reflects on what happened: “I clearly remember hearing a sharp crack while the midwife was doing the abdominal expression and the gynecologist was pulling my daughter with a suction cup. Twice in a row. I then had a hemorrhage. When the effects of the The anesthesia wore off, I felt excruciating pain, I mightn’t walk but I was told that it was normal, that there was no need to do any tests despite my insistence. I had already had a baby and I hadn’t had anything like that.”
In reality, Lobna Egenschwiller-Ben Aouissi presented a disjunction of the pubic symphysis with fracture, that is to say a widening of the articulation of the bones of the front of the pelvis, with bone fragments. “I felt them every time I walked, I was in so much pain. And since I wasn’t taken care of right away since my gynecologist refused to admit that there was a problem, the consolidation made any operation risky.”
“Typical biker fracture”
Three years ago, a renowned orthopedic surgeon from Nice agreed to take care of her but the operation had to be canceled at the last minute.
“He referred me to a Parisian colleague whom I saw last November. He was appalled by my situation and wondered how I managed to walk with a pelvis in such poor condition. All the surgeons I saw m They said that I had the typical biker’s fracture. When, following an accident, the gas tank crushes the pelvis, confides the thirty-year-old. He agreed to operate on me on November 27. I was bedridden following the procedure and am slowly starting to walk once more. He removed the bone fragments that were hurting me so much and performed an arthrodesis, that is, he welded the bones together with plates and screws at the symphysis. Thanks to this I will be able to work once more.”
Because over the last four years, the woman from Nice has had all the difficulty in the world keeping a job. “I was very limited but I was nevertheless determined. I had found a manager position, I was so happy. But at the hiring medical examination, the occupational doctor suspended me directly, believing that I was not I wasn’t physically capable. Back to square one. So I decided to set up my company and return to my initial training: I’m going to open a hairdressing salon. There, there will be no one to stop me to work. Yes, it’s going to be very hard, but the operation a few weeks ago gives me hope. And then, it’s complicated to live with our three children on my husband’s salary alone.
At the same time, I am continuing the legal fight. It’s a question of principle: I want the succession of medical errors of which I was the victim to be recognized. That’s why I agreed to this TV show, so that this kind of thing doesn’t happen anymore. I not only fight for myself but also for others, to inform them. If at the time I had known what would happen to me, I would have insisted even more that medical examinations be done.”
