THE victim of allegations of immorality committed by the Chairman of the Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU), Hasyim Asy’ari, requested that the Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP) sanction Hasyim’s dismissal as chairman and member of the Indonesian KPU. This was intended to create a deterrent effect, considering that allegations of similar actions once morest Hasyim had also been reported to the DKPP.

The victim’s attorney from the Legal Aid Consultation Institute, Faculty of Law, University of Indonesia (LKBH-FHUI) Aristo Pangaribuan said that the last harsh warning sanction imposed by the DKPP following a complaint from the Chair of the Republic One Party, namely Hasnaeni or often called the Golden Woman, last year must be taken into account. the same typology of actions as his clients.

“This means that if that is the case, there is no longer a final harsh warning sanction, (it should be) the heaviest sanction, namely dismissal (from the position of chairman and member of the Indonesian KPU),” explained Aristo at the DKPP Office, Jakarta, Thursday (18/4).

For the victim’s attorney, the sanction of dismissal is necessary to prevent a deterrent effect and the occurrence of repeated violations in the future. This sanction can also be a lesson and punishment for the serious ethical violations that Hasyim has committed.

It is known that the alleged violation of the election organizers’ code of ethics in the form of immorality was reported by one of the overseas election committee (PPLN) officers whose identity was kept secret. According to the victim’s attorney, Hasyim’s actions began in August 2023 when Hasyim went on an official visit abroad and ended in March 2024.

When asked for his response to the complaint, Hasyim was still reluctant to say much. “I’ll respond later at the right time. I’m sorry,” he said in a written statement. (Tri/Z-7)
