Vicious Hair Salon Attack: Kidnapping, Assault, and Razor Attack in Arlon

The facts date back to November 8, 2021. The manager of a hair salon in rue des Faubourgs in Arlon – but who has no longer worked in Arlon since then and works elsewhere following the tragedy – was busy in her salon when a couple , of French nationality, burst in. “I knew the lady and even had good relations with her until then. I actually owed them a sum of €480 because she had done an extension of my hair, testifies the victim, now aged 53 .

“They had already come to my salon a few days earlier and threatened me verbally, in front of clients. I wanted to pay this woman, in cash, the amount I owed her. But on November 8, I was alone in the living room. They kidnapped me by locking the front door. They beat me and above all took a razor with a blade and started to shave my hair,” explains the ex-hairdresser.

Me Marc Kauten, counsel for the victim, civil party, said that the method used had been particularly vicious because the lady who came to attack initially made an appointment with a false name.

“My client still has following-effects of the attack two years later, on her wrists. She suffered post-traumatic stress and she has since changed jobs. There were forms of sadism on the part of these two attackers. The irony is that the victim finally gave them proof, on the day of the attack, that she had just paid them by transfer,” says Me Kauten.

The scene lasted 15 minutes

The two defendants have no known address in France or Belgium. They did not appear at the hearing on Monday September 11 before the Arlon criminal court. They risk a lot as they fail.

According to Yannick Rosart, deputy of the king’s prosecutor, there was clearly kidnapping and a scene of beatings and assault using a razor, “a scene which lasted 15 minutes. It’s long”.

The representative of the prosecution refers to the interrogations of the accused, in 2021, who denied any form of aggression and simply affirmed that they “had only come to check if the debt of €480 had been paid to them!” .

For these facts, plus verbal threats a few days earlier and threats if the victim filed a complaint, each member of the couple risks a one-year prison sentence and a €50 fine.

Judge Nazé will pronounce his judgment on October 9.
