Vice-President of Gazprombank Igor Volobuev left for Kyiv

Former Vice President of Gazprombank Igor Volobuev left Russia for Ukraine and is going to join the territorial defense ranks to defend his homeland. About this he told in an interview with The Insider.

“I could no longer be in Russia. I am Ukrainian by nationality, I was born in Akhtyrka, I could no longer observe from the outside what Russia is doing with my homeland. My visit is like repentance, I want to wash off my Russian past. I want stay in Ukraine until victory,” said a former top manager of a Russian bank.

Volobuev called Russia’s aggression against Ukraine a war crime. “This is a crime on the part of Putin, the Russian authorities and, in fact, the Russian people. Because it is not Putin who kills Ukrainians here, it is not Putin who steals toilets, it is not Putin who rapes women. This is the Russian people.” And, according to Volobuev, although he is Ukrainian by nationality, he is also responsible for this. “I have a double responsibility, I’m not just a Russian,” said the former vice president of Gazprombank.

He also commented on the death of the first vice-president of Gazprombank Vladislav Avaev and his family. The media, citing the Investigative Committee of Russia, wrote that the top manager killed his wife and daughter, and then committed suicide. Volobuev does not believe in suicide – too many deaths gas top managers happened in Russia, and considers the incident a staging. “Maybe he knew something and posed some kind of danger,” Volobuev said.

Until March 2022, Igor Volobuev was Vice President of Gazprombank, and before that, he headed the press service of Gazprom for many years. It is through Gazprombank that Europe pays for Russian gas, and it is in this bank that accounts should be opened to pay for gas supplies in rubles.
