Vice President Kamala Harris – AFP Reported on March 4 that Mrs. Kamala Harris Vice President of the United States Call on the parties involved to reach a ceasefire agreement between Israel with Hamas for six weeks and criticized Israel for the insufficient delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip.
“Given the enormous suffering in Gaza, a ceasefire is required immediately and for at least six weeks,” Ms Harris said during a visit to Selma, Alabama.
He is considered the highest-ranking US administration official to express his harshest and most outspoken views on Israel. Meanwhile, President Joe Biden is under intense pressure to support Israel. Amid attacks and the death toll of civilians in the Gaza Strip has risen to at least 30,410.
A senior US official earlier revealed that Israel had accepted most of the deal, which would have been a six-week truce, with the condition that it would come into force immediately if Hamas agreed to release the most vulnerable hostages. Ms Harris called on Hamas to accept the deal. “Hamas claims to want a ceasefire. Now there is an offer and, as we said, Hamas needs to accept it.”
They also addressed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, leader of Israel. Speed up the process of increasing assistance in the Gaza Strip. “The Israeli government must do more to significantly increase aid flows. There is no excuse.” Ms Harris also stressed that Israel must open new border crossings and must not impose unnecessary restrictions on aid delivery.
“Too many innocent Palestinians have been killed. People just need food for their families following weeks with little to no help. Reaching the northern area of Gaza Strip… They face shootings and chaos. Our hearts break for the victims of that horrible tragedy.”
Ms Harris cited the incident in which hundreds of Palestinians died while waiting to receive aid from a convoy of trucks last week. And that the threat Hamas poses to the Israeli people must, in turn, be eliminated.
Ms. Harris is scheduled to meet to discuss.with Mr. Benny Gantz, Minister in the Israeli War Cabinet in Washington, D.C., on Monday local time.
“The U.S. vice president’s meeting is part of our ongoing effort to engage with a wide range of Israeli officials regarding the war in Gaza. and planning for the days ahead,” the White House said in a statement on Sunday, March 3.
Besides Mrs. Harris Mr. Dance will talk to Mr. Jake Sullivan National Security Advisor and Mr Anthony Blinken Secretary of State of the United States as well
