Vice-Governor Félicien Kiway Mwadi Launches Measles and Yellow Fever Vaccination Campaign in Kwilu Province

The vice-governor of the province of Kwilu, Félicien Kiway Mwadi, launched, Friday January 19 in Kikwit, the combined vaccination campaign once morest measles and yellow fever in all the 24 health zones in this province.

Félicien Kiway Mwadi said that nearly one million forty-two thousand two hundred and ninety-eight children aged between 6 and 59 months are targeted by measles vaccination. And, anyone aged 9 months to 60 years old will be vaccinated once morest yellow fever.

This campaign once morest yellow fever aims to reach five million, seven hundred and forty-eight thousand, eight hundred and fourteen people.

According to the vice-governor, the campaign takes place from January 19 to 29 in fixed and advanced strategies.

Thus, he invited the population concerned to be vaccinated and to have their children vaccinated once morest these two viral diseases which have been rampant since last year in the province of Kwilu.

« Measles and yellow fever are two viral diseases, that is to say two unavoidable and contagious diseases whose substance which serves to prevent said diseases is the vaccine. Because the vaccine saves human lives. I therefore invite all the populations of the province of Kwilu across our 24 health zones to be vaccinated », indicated Félicien Kiway.

The official ceremony for the launch of this campaign took place in the presence of several authorities including members of the provincial government, health sector executives and the Government’s various technical and financial partners such as UNICEF.
