Viagra saves the life of a woman who has been in a coma for 45 days due to COVID

A nurse who has been in a coma for a month and a half following testing positive for Covid-19 is life saved following being given Viagra as a drug.

72 hours before her ventilator should be switched off, the nurse will take the erectile dysfunction medication as an aid.

Unusual remedy

Monica Almeida is vaccinated but will be hospitalized following testing positive for the coronavirus. She is taken straight to the resuscitation room, where her condition is rapidly deteriorating, reports The Sun.

Almeida, 37, is three days away from having her ventilator turned off when her doctors decide to give her a high dose of the drug that has been linked to erectile dysfunction.

A short time later, their breathing improves and their need for oxygen is halved. The Gainsborough, Lincolnshire nurse, who specializes in respiratory diseases, told the newspaper:

It was definitely the Viagra that saved me. Within 48 hours, it opened my airways and my lungs began to respond. Given how the drug works, it dilates the blood vessels. I have asthma and my air sacs needed a little help.

A Christmas miracle

Almeida, mother of two, can come home in time for Christmas following spending almost two months in the hospital. She is grateful to the Lincoln County Hospital staff for saving her life in the most unusual ways. She says:

I made a little joke with the senior doctor when I came to because I knew him. He told me it was the Viagra. I laughed and thought he was kidding, but he said no, really, you got a big dose of Viagra. That was my little Christmas miracle.

She is already on the mend, but the doctors: Inside tell her that she would have died if she had not had the double vaccination.
