Viagogo also wants to resale the 2028 Olympic Games

After Paris, event ticket trading platform Viagogo also wants to be able to sell second-hand tickets for the Los Angeles Olympic Games.

The International Olympic Committee is in discussions with several parties about this, including Viagogo.

These types of trading platforms act as a lubricant in the ticket trade if the organization can prevent commercial excesses. Sites such as Viagogo increase ticket availability.

At the Games, it is not unusual for someone to buy tickets for a final that their country did not qualify for. They will want to sell their tickets.

Just before the start of the Olympic Games in Paris there were, according to the Financial Times, 270,000 tickets available on resale sites. That was almost half more than a month earlier. That is partly due to the fact that ticket buyers were required to buy tickets for at least three events when they initially purchased.

The IOC sold these types of tickets in Paris via its own site, but tickets were also available via Viagogo, for example. That company wants to work on a formal partnership.

The official ticket sales for LA28 is owned by AXS from Los Angeles and Eventim from Germany. In addition, tickets are also available on the website of the American Games organization itself.

Since 2021, Viagogo has been part of Stubhub, also a trading platform for event tickets.
