Reliance-owned Viacom-18 owns the television and digital broadcasting rights of Indian cricket matches. The BCCI has awarded Viacom the five-year broadcasting rights for a period of Rs 5,966.4 crore from 2023 to 2028.
India’s domestic and international matches will be telecast on Sports 18 on television and on digital platform Jio Cinema. The contract with Viacom runs from September 2023 to March 2028. 88 matches will be played during this period. It can also be up to 102. 25 Test matches, 27 ODIs and 36 T20 matches. Sony Pictures Network and Disney Star were strong in Thursday’s auction.

Earlier, Viacom had acquired the digital broadcasting rights of IPL for five years and the television and digital broadcasting rights of women’s IPL for a record amount. In addition, Viacom has the rights to broadcast the 2024 Paris Olympics, South African cricket team’s 2024 season matches, T10 League, Road Safety World Series, La Liga, League One and Serie A Diamond League.
