Vettel considering return if retirement bores him

The German world champion hints at the possibility of a return to Formula 1 as he retires at the end of the season.

Sebastian Vettel will hang up with Formula 1 following the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but many are already talking regarding the fact that he might return with a role to play at board level.

Although he wants to take his time first, the German does not close the door to this form of return.

“Maybe an offer of this nature will come my way and I’ll see how I feel at the moment, says Seb. For now, I’m not considering anything because I’m stepping away from sports and I’m happy to spend more time with my children. »

“My announcement was liberating because I had this decision in me for a long time, he continues . I think this break will do me good, and time will tell if I’m bored in three months or in three years. »

Current Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali also hopes that the German will stay close to the discipline, and admits that he would like to offer such a position to Vettel.

“We have spoken regarding his decision and his future, and we want his links with Formula 1 to remain close, he resigns himself. If he is interested in being part of our system, we will welcome him with open arms, but we know that he will first take time to sort it out and enjoy his family. »

Vettel insisted on concluding that he was fully in control of his decision and that no one had pushed him out.
