“Very serious, immediate intervention is needed” –

“Senator, are you Jewish?”. Outcry from the Italian Journalists association, which expresses “full solidarity with the senator and colleague Ester Mieli, who this morning was welcomed by Giorgio Zanchini in the Radio Rai1 program ‘Radio Anch’io’ with this question”. “The theme of the episode – recalls the association – is the clashes of the last few days between pro-Palestine demonstrators and the police. Ester Mieli asked the host the reason for this question, which we would never have imagined having to hear on a public service network, reminding him that she is an Italian citizen and senator of the Republic. Frankly, we didn’t really understand Zanchini’s explanations to motivate this surreal choice.”

And the matter cannot at all go unnoticed according to the association founded in recent weeks: “We hope for a timely intervention by Rai, a clear and immediate position taken by the representative bodies, starting from the Fnsi and the Odg, and that clarification is made on the case because similar episodes cannot go unnoticed. The Italian Journalists Association considers what happened to be very serious and reiterates its closeness to Ester Mieli”.
