Fear returns to Spain. The country’s meteorological agency (Aemet) has raised the alert to red in Malaga and in the south of Tarragona, in Catalonia, due to the forecast of very heavy rain today. The alert also concerns the rest of the Valencian Community, the Balearic Islands, Murcia and the coast of Catalonia, as well as eastern Andalusia. There are also warnings for snow in northern Extremadura and Castile and Leon, where several roads are already closed. Faced with the prospect of further rainfall, many municipalities have decided to adopt preventive measures and lessons have been suspended in several provinces.
Yesterday, meanwhile, the Data Integration Center (Cid) which manages information relating to victims in the Valencian community, reported that the deaths registered in the region increased from 214 to 215. Another 7 were registered in Castile-La Mancha and one in Andalusia for a total of 223. The number of missing people however fell to 17. The CID also clarified that all the bodies recovered have been identified.
