Vertical Aerospace’s VX4: The Future of Air Taxis Unveiled in First Flight Test

2023-07-21 07:30:00

Vertical Aerospace has finally carried out the first flight test of an air taxi called VX4. The British company sent it flying without a driver on board.

What we know

The VX4 is a vertical take-off and landing aircraft. As part of the test, the air taxi climbed to a low altitude, flew a certain distance and successfully landed smoothly.

The flight speed reached 70 kilometers per hour. The company claims that the final version of the air vehicle will be able to accelerate up to 325 km/h and have a maximum range of around 160 kilometers on a full battery charge.

Although Vertical Aerospace has already garnered nearly 1,500 pre-orders, development of the VX4 is not going smoothly. The British company had planned to certify the air taxi next year, but will not be able to do so until the end of 2026.
