Doha – Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen set the fastest time in the only training session before the Qatar Grand Prix. The Dutchman was clearly faster than Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz (+0.334 seconds) on Friday at the Lusail International Circuit in Red Bull. Charles Leclerc (+0.481) followed in third place in the second Ferrari. The Mercedes and McLaren drivers, however, decided not to do a fast lap on the softest set of tires in the desert.
