Max Verstappen will not take action during the second day of the testing in Bahrain. The reigning world champion was supposed to enter the circuit in the afternoon, but that will not happen after the morning session was canceled earlier. Red Bull has now chosen to let Sergio Pérez, Verstappen’s Mexican teammate, also race in the afternoon. Verstappen will be back in action on Friday.
The drivers had to stop the morning session early after a cover that provides rain drainage on the curbstones became loose. Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, among others, drove over the broken lid and then had to have their car checked. The floor of Leclerc’s new Ferrari had to be replaced.
Pérez had problems in the morning due to overheated brakes. Leclerc recorded the best time in that session with 1.31.750 and the Japanese Yuki Tsunoda (Visa Cash App RB) completed the most laps, forty.
