Verstappen optimistic about Red Bull development plan

As Ferrari is set to launch this weekend at Barcelona its first big upgrade on its F1-75, reigning world champion Max Verstappen assures that Red Bull also still has plenty of new stuff in stock for its RB18.

Scuderia Ferrari – current leader of the constructors’ world championship ahead of Red Bull – will have waited until the sixth round of the year, which takes place this weekend in Barcelona, to draw a major update on its F1-75 ( a new aerodynamic package), which should offer the two Ferrari drivers a little more performance on a very technical track on which the teams have become accustomed to running their single-seaters with a lot of downforce (particularly because of the 3 turns and 9).

When asked if Max Verstappen is worried regarding Ferrari picking up the pace in terms of development on its single-seater, the Dutchman says he remains convinced that Red Bull – which has taken a completely different approach with the introduction of evolutions drop by drop on the RB18 – will be able to react in this real war of development.

“There’s still a lot left in the tank!” Of course, I think we can always do better, but for us the priority remains reliability, so we will try to master that first. » said Verstappen this Thursday in Barcelona.

“I think we have a team that works very well on the track, but also in the factory they are very efficient, and I think with the cost cap that is very important. I honestly think we’re one of the best on the grid right now in that regard. »

Regarding his chances of performing well this weekend in Barcelona and for the rest of the season, Max Verstappen says he is rather relaxed on the eve of the sixth round of the year: “Of course, we will have to wait to see what the others have brought [comme amélioration], but I’m pretty relaxed. However, it’s a long season and I know everything will depend on how the car develops. So we have to go step by step, race by race. »

Before the Spanish Grand Prix, Max Verstappen is second in the drivers’ world championship, 19 points behind Charles Leclerc.
