Dutch driver Max Verstappen will start from pole position in the short-distance race to be held on Saturday, which will determine the grid for the Austrian Grand Prix to be held on Sunday, in the Formula One World Championship.
Verstappen, the leader in the drivers’ category, scored 1 minute 984. 4 seconds around the 4,218 kilometer Red Bull Ring, ahead of Charles Leclerc of Monaco by 029.0 seconds and Carlos Sainz by 082.0 seconds.
The Mercedes team faced a disaster following Lewis Hamilton lost control of the car in the seventh corner, and the same thing was repeated with George Russell in the tenth turn, and they collided with the barriers, and the third test witnessed the emergence of red flags both times.
The 24-lap short-distance race awards points to the top eight drivers, and its results determine the grid for Sunday’s race.
Verstappen leads the drivers’ category, 34 points ahead of teammate Sergio Perez, and 43 points ahead of Leclerc.
